When I’m short on time and dinner ideas, I almost always go for a stir fry. I can have dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes and I usually have enough leftover for an easy lunch-to-go. But as you likely know, most popular stir fry recipes on the internet are made with animal-based proteins like chicken, shrimp, or beef.

So today we’re tackling vegan stir fry recipes as well as vegan stir fry sauce recipes so you can make a meal that’s just as filling and satiating, but easier on the wallet!

Every good vegan stir fry recipe usually includes 4 key components:

  1. Plant-based proteins like tofu, tempeh, seitan, soy curls, or store-bought vegan meat alternatives. If you’re on a tight budget, go for tofu, tempeh, or soy curls!
  2. Whole grains like rice or noodles. Rice or ramen noodles are the most common starches to serve with stir fry. If you’re looking for what to serve with white rice (or brown rice!), stir fry is a very easy and delicious option.
  3. Vegetables. Buy fresh, in-season vegetables OR buy frozen vegetables. Don’t let any misinformation fool you; frozen vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh vegetables. There are even stir fry veggie blends in the freezer section of your local grocery store (Costco has a great one too!).
  4. A delicious stir fry sauce
